In some cases the wrist and ankle are also involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"causes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Causes<\/h2>\n<p>There is no single cause of carpopedal spasms.\u00a0 Some of the more frequent triggers include a calcium deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, hyperventilation, stress and dehydration. Other less common causes include Parkinson\u2019s disease, multiple sclerosis and Huntington\u2019s.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"symptoms\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Symptoms<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s little difference between the symptoms of normal muscle spasm and symptoms of carpopedal spasm. Some of the common symptoms include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sudden cramps in fingers, thumb, toes, and feet.<\/li>\n<li>Extreme fatigue experienced by the patient after the spasms.<\/li>\n<li>Feeling of pins and needles in the affected area.<\/li>\n<li>Numbness in the affected area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"treatment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treatment<\/h2>\n<p>Typical treatments are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calcium supplements.<\/li>\n<li>Vitamin D, supplements.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping well hydrated.<\/li>\n<li>Exercise \u2013 especially those such as swimming, aerobics and strength building exercises.<\/li>\n<li>Yoga, meditation and other relaxation techniques can be helpful, if the condition is caused by stress.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Always seek advice before taking dietary supplements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carpopedal spasms are and involuntary, and sometimes violent, spasms of finger and toes.
