The tendon is then sewn back together. After surgery, a cast is usually worn for six to 12 weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At first, the cast is positioned to keep the foot pointed downward as the tendon heals. It is then adjusted gradually to put the foot in a neutral position (not pointing up or down). Specific gentle exercises after surgery can shorten the time needed in rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-664 \"
