It allows you to extend your foot and point your toes to the floor. Despite the fact that it\u2019s amazingly strong, it\u2019s a commonly injured tendon, often \u2013 but not always \u2013 as a result of a sports injury.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-774 \" src=\"https:\/\/raymondnash.com\/patient-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Picture-11-Medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"521\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raymondnash.com\/patient-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Picture-11-Medium.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.raymondnash.com\/patient-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Picture-11-Medium-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.raymondnash.com\/patient-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Picture-11-Medium-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 521px) 100vw, 521px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An Achilles tendon injury might be caused by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overuse<\/li>\n<li>Stepping up your level of physical activity too quickly<\/li>\n<li>Wearing high heels, which increases the stress on the tendon<\/li>\n<li>Problems with the feet \u2013 an Achilles tendon injury can result from flat feet, also known as fallen arches or over-pronation.
